As mentioned earlier, we stayed at Noboribetsu for our first night in Hokkaido. As it's norm for my family to wander around where we live after or before a day's journey starts, we did take leisure to explore Noboribetsu according to the maps provided at the hotel lobby.

It's not a great time to go to Hokkaido, Japan in early April since it's a time of early spring and the snow from last is melting. Not a very pretty sight though with muddy snow on the ground.

Anyway, this is a family trip (actually, a group tour). Not much can be talked about since it's hard to go around on one's own.

The first stop is at Lake Shikotsu, which is a caldera lake. Unfortunately, due to the weather, it was hard to view the beautiful mountains around the lake.
