As mentioned earlier, we stayed at Noboribetsu for our first night in Hokkaido. As it's norm for my family to wander around where we live after or before a day's journey starts, we did take leisure to explore Noboribetsu according to the maps provided at the hotel lobby.

The ghost who guards hot springs
Noboribetsu's commercial street is famous for it's ghost and animal statues. It's suggested on the map that one can try to find how how many different kinds of stone animals are on the street or to explore the different ghosts.
