One of the sight-seeing spot the Rotary Club volunteers prepared for UBC students is Grist Mill and Gardens. It is about 40-minute drive from Penticton. The mill was built by Barrington Price in 1877. The owner there is trying hard to maintain the historic site. Unfortunately, there aren't enough visitors to keep the mill running these days.

Sept-25-2009 Penticton Trip - Part 2
The trip started on September 25 around 11AM. Some rotary club volunteers would drive SUVs to the International House of UBC, where the students are waiting to aboard and enjoying the weekend in Penticton. We took Highway #1 to Penticton and stopped for a break at Ernest C. Manning Park, which is named after a Canadian Politician.
The park is full of wooden grizzly bear statues and it is famous for its groundhogs. Unfortunately, we didn't have the fortune to witness any except seeing lots of ravens and crows.

Sept-25-2009 Penticton Trip (Part 1 - Where is Penticton?)
Penticton is a small town in inner British Columbia. Each year, the Rotary Club and the International House of UBC would co-host a 3-day home-stay trip for selected few lucky UBC students. Students who are interested in participating the trip need to fill out a form in the beginning of the term and hand it in to the office. The office would then choose some students to participate and hold a pre-briefing to prepare students what to look forwards to.
I have to thank Daisy, a fellow student living at Gage, for telling me about this piece of information, and I am glad you're chosen as well. I met great friends during the trip, and it's a fabulous memory that I would cherish forever.
A small souvenior for every student presented by Anna, member of the Rotary Club of Penticton.
