Teaching English: Culture shock

The article has shocked people in Taiwan a lot, and some over-reactions did take place such as posting horrifying comments under the article, and the government has sent official letters to the Canadian government. 

The article stands certain truth for people used to a roach-free environment. But learning and accepting different cultures and environment is the major part of going abroad. I did agree with the conclusion of the article, although the descriptions on Taiwan does hurt. (I hate roaches as well, but they do pop out occasionally.)

BTW, I myself can't figure out the English translations of roads in Taiwan. Local governments have different views about pronunciation systems. Some applied what the Chinese government uses, while other applied Wade-Giles. It's no surprise for foreigners without Mandarin literacy to be confused.
