Dunbar Haunted House

Want some "Canadian" Ghosty feelings? Dunbar Haunted House would be the best choice for students living on a budget. 

(For one's reference, Vancouver Halloween is a good online resource for suggestions on what to do during Halloween season.)

對沒什麼錢的窮學生來說，既想要過些「加拿大風格」的萬聖節，又要省錢，參加需入場費的萬聖節party（最少都要CAD$2，有些活動甚至要CAD$20），倒不如尋找一些"免費"的options。鄧巴鬼屋就是這樣一個「俗擱大碗」的好去處－因為它是免入場費的。

The Haunted House is ran by community members living in the area, which is free access for all people, but donations are accepted. (The donations will be send to certain charities as listed on their website.) Through the decorations in the haunted house, one would really appreciate the efforts volunteers put into it. Tents were set up in the front (or back or both) yard of the residence. And a maze / route is designed to went through different kinds of spooky decorations. All the ghosts are played by residents in the community, including children and adults. One would find ghosts chatting with their neighbours waiting in line. 

鄧巴鬼屋是由該街區的居民們所營造參與的志願性質活動，活動所得的捐款（參觀者的捐款）會被捐給溫哥華當地的慈善團體，例如消防協會等。雖然是非營利性質的鬼屋，但其裝潢、演員都是一時之選（演員有大人也有小孩，都是社區居民，在排隊時甚至會看到鬼怪和參觀者聊起來），不輸給Disney的鬼屋。鬼屋是利用其中一戶人家的庭院所搭建（搭建臨時的帳棚，放上裝飾，佈置參觀動線）。

Live actors would be on scene after 6:30 every night and they would even try to shock visitors waiting in line to get into the Haunted House. Beware of the guy next to you in line, are you really sure he is a human?

演員們在每晚的6:30後開始出没在鬼屋中，有些甚至會溜到排隊的人群中。（注意一下身旁的人們吧，確定一下他們不是鬼！)

In 2009, they have an area that full of human skeletons, a spooky corn field, a graveyard, the forest where werewolves reside, the zombie land and more.

2009年的裝飾包括墳場、可怕的玉米田、骷髏屋、彊尸地、狼人森林等等。

Of course, there is the beautiful Vampire hostess greeting and enchanting visitors at the exit and handing out some "comforting gums"as treats.

當然不可少的是美豔的吸血鬼女主人在出口處安撫 / 催眠（？）大家。

(I arrived around 7 pm, and got in around 8. The entrance got someone to control the crowd flow, so everyone can enjoy the shocks and shrieks brought by the ghosts.進場人數是有控制的，幾乎每個人都會得到鬼們好好的招待一番。)
