Tien-Yuen Temple is famous for its Yoshino Cherry blossoms during spring time. The blossoms would reach its full bloom around mid March. I heard about it last year, but never had the chance to go due to rainy weather. Luckily, after weeks of wet days, the Sun finally came out on 13 March, 2011. As the saying "Carpe Diem" goes, I got up early and seize the opportunity to visit the beauties there.

Some traffic tips:

Local government provides free shuttle buses to and back from Tien-Yuen Temple while the blossoming weeks. Tourists could either take the shuttle buses at Tan-Shui subway station or Hung-Shu-Lin subway station.  Paid rides provided by taxis and Tan-Shui Bus Service are also available.

Arrived around 8:30AM, the neighbourhood had been full of people already. A thin mist still hang in the air. I didn't know whether the Sun would come out later. But it was a shame to miss the full bloom of Yoshino Cherries.

The cherry trees at the temple were planted around 1975 by a bunch of volunteers. The Yoshino cherries were grafted onto Formosan cherries so that they could adapt to the weather in Taiwan.

First photo taken with cherry blossoms that day.

The sky was brightening up.

Since the people around the temple were becoming more and more, I took a chance to explore the rest of the area before more people coming in.
