Jaya taught us how to eat Indian meals with our right hand. The trick was to use your thumb well to bread the Indian breads. Unfortunately, nearly all of us had all thumbs while eating with hands, except our great teacher.

Lessons learned:

Lesson One:

Not all Indian foods are spicy hot. According to Jaya, South Indian foods are not very spicy. It's true after some tasting, although nearly all of us agreed that there were lots of "spice" in the foods.

Lesson Two:

Traditional Indian food can be all vegetarian. One might think that curry should always go with some meat, but all the curries offered there are vegetarian.

Lesson Three:

Use your thumb to push the food into your mouth will the other four fingers serve as a spoon. Use the thumb to break bread into pieces.

Lesson Four:

Use your right hand to eat, and keep left hand clean for picking up water cups.

Lesson Five:

Mixed white rice with curries. Eat seasoned rice alone. Some dishes can eat with side dishes, while other shouldn't.

Lesson Six:

Eat desserts with spoons? (Traditionally, they eat with hands. But according to Jaya, younger Generations eat with spoons.)

Lesson Seven:

There is a sequence to eat. First with rice / bread, curries, and side dishes. Then, eat youguart with rice and yoguart with vegetables in it as something to cool down.  Eat desserts as the last part, such as rice with pears or fried rice ball with syrup.
